But there were a couple of info dumps, so maybe that was my problem.ĭon’t expect any resolution to the overall plot because this one essentially ends on a surprising cliffhanger. When I think back on it, the action is fairly continuous. Parts of the story dragged a bit for me but I can’t explain why. I feel the creepy old photos are incorporated a bit more seamlessly than they were in the first book however, there were still some odd moments that were obviously only there to describe a picture the author really liked. It’s been years since I read the first one so maybe the time lapse and/or my shifting tastes are to blame. I enjoyed the second volume of this series but it didn’t quite grab me the same way the first one did. As in his earlier novel, Hollow City is filled with eerily fascinating vintage photographs, and like a seasoned magician Riggs seamlessly incorporates them into a story already so well established in many ways that such a feat seems remarkable.-Seira Wilson -This text refers to an alternate kindleedition edition.
